We were blown away when we saw this drawing of our Gabriella (Ella).  The drawing was created by Zoe Thompson, a 12-years of age young woman, when her family stayed at our lodging apartment in January.  When we first meet Zoe, it was immediately obvious she has a connection to animals.  Our alpacas (and Kitty) took to her immediately.  Zoe's ability to capture Ella's features is amazing.  If you come to visit us, you will see a copy of the drawing in the lodging apartment and the original is in our home.  Thank you Zoe.

A Fun Day with Alpacas at the 2015 VAOBA EXPO

FUN DAY WITH ALPACAS...The alpaca show in Virginia (VAOBA EXPO) is being held Dec. 5-6, 2015, in the Meadow Event Park in Doswell, Virginia (right outside of Richmond) at the Farm Bureau building. It's a great opportunity to see over 400 alpacas, alpaca judging/competition, fun youth activities, informative seminars, wonderful shopping for alpaca products and a photo contest. Added this year is the fiber fun workshop which is a 20-30 minute session in which you can participate in making small projects. And it's FREE! We suggest visiting on Saturday, December 5 as the best day to visit. Although we will not be there with our alpacas this year, it's a terrific opportunity to spend the day with alpacas, alpaca people and attend the informative seminars. For more information visit www.VAOBAEXPO.com.

Misty Mountains Alpacas, A Retirement Dream Come True

Misty Mountains Alpacas was featured several years ago in the Crozet Gazette and it's a great read about how they started in the alpaca business! Knowledgeable, passionate and always with an eye towards humane and gentle treatment of these amazing animals, Sandra and Ralph Muraca lead the way in second career speciality breed farming in the Shenandoah Valley! They have since relocated to a Raphine, VA location, and have lots more in store for sharing their love of alpacas with others.
